Dr Karen Harding MB ChB, FRCP, has been a Consultant Orthogeriatrician working at North Bristol NHS Trust since 2001.
She graduated from the University of Bristol in 1990 and undertook specialist training in Medicine and Geriatrics in Cardiff. There she developed her interests in Orthogeriatrics and Bone disease before being appointed to her Consultant post.
She has transformed the local Orthogeriatric service from providing 2 sessions / week to a shared care, Consultant delivered, service.
She worked with commissioners to establish a pan Bristol a Fracture Liaison Service and is the clinical lead at NBT.
She was a member of the steering group that established the National Hip Fracture Database and has served as a member of its Scientific and Publications Committee since 2009.
She was the clinical lead for the South West review of falls and fracture services and represented the British Geriatric Society at the Department of Health Fragility Fractures Programme Board.
