Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist, Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust

Dr Mo Aye, MB, BS, FRCP, FRCPE, is a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School.

He graduated from the Institute of Medicine, Rangoon, Burma in 1995 and undertook specialist training in Leeds.

He has been a substantive consultant since 2006 in an endocrinology service which serves a population of over 1 million in East Yorkshire.

His specialty interests are osteoporosis, metabolic bone disease, pituitary and thyroid diseases, thyroid cancer and general endocrinology. He is also a general physician and participates actively in the whole gamut of general internal medicine from ambulatory care and acute medical admissions to general medical inpatient work. He has published in the field. His current research work is on development of complex intervention to address re-fractures and frailty in patients who have sustained hip fractures.

He is a member of the Society for Endocrinology Bone and Mineral Network.

He has held management positions as Clinical Lead for Endocrinology (2009-11) and Clinical Director for Emergency Medicine (2011-15) and has strong experience in operational management and governance. He led the introduction of ambulatory emergency care service to Hull. He is a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission and has participated in inspections of acute hospital trusts and ambulance services.

He has an active interest in medical education and is Training Programme Director for General Internal Medicine at Health Education Yorkshire and the Humber.
