Dr Aung Soe MB, BS, FRCPCH, MRCP, DCH

Consultant in Neonatology

Dr Soe received Neonatal and Paediatric training in Liverpool, Oxford and London hospitals and has been a consultant neonatologist since 1996. He is a full time NHS consultant with various management and national roles and his clinical work interrelates with other responsibilities.

In Medway, he is the Lead Clinician in Neonatology and also the Lead Clinician for Kent Perinatal Network. He is currently a member of RCPCH Clinical Standard Committee and Medicine Committee, RCOG Scientific Advisory Committee, a specialist adviser to NICE interventional procedure programme and an external adviser to NICE NHS Evidence Accreditation Advisory Committee.

Dr Soe was a member of NICE Guideline Development Group on Antibiotics for early onset neonatal infections, Neonatal jaundice, Intravenous Fluid in Children and RCPCH guideline on Retinopathy of Prematurity. He was also involved in NPSA / RCPCH project on Safer Practice in Neonatal Care in Medications.

He has relevant academic credentials through local and multi-centre research activities. He has been a Principal investigator in various research projects including studies on neonatal brain, lungs and nutrition.
