Mr William Broughton, BSc (Hons) PGCert MCPara FHEA

Paramedic, London Ambulance Service

After qualifying from the University of Hertfordshire in 2013, Mr Broughton commenced full time work as a Paramedic with London Ambulance Service. Since October 2013, he has been working towards an MSc in Paediatrics and Child Health from Imperial College and is due to complete in September 2016.

In September 2014, Mr Broughton moved into a full time teaching post at Anglia Ruskin University and during his time there completed a PGCert in Learning and Teaching for Higher Education and achieved Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. In April 2016, he took up a full time appointment as Education Director at The Academy of Professional Development - developing pre and post-registration education for Paramedics and other medical professionals. To maintain his academic engagement, Mr Broughton is the external examiner for the BSc (Hons) Enhanced Paramedic Practice at Swansea University.

Mr Broughton maintains regular clinical practice with London Ambulance Service and his research interests are in Paediatric Out of Hospital Care, Paramedic Education and Quality Improvement. He is a Trustee of the College of Paramedics, responsible for the London Region.

Mr Broughton is happy to comment on all aspects of Paramedic practice and has a particular interest in paediatric emergency care.
