Professor Bo Povlsen MD, PhD, CCST(Orth)
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Guys and St Thomas Hospital
My name is Bo Povlsen and I am an orthopaedic consultant specialising exclusively in conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow and the shoulder during the last 30 years.
I was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon twenty years ago to the world famous Guy’s and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and have been Associate Professor of Hand Surgery at University of Linkoping, Sweden since 1998.
I have been involved in research for more than a quarter of a century, have a PhD in neurobiology and have published more than 60 scientific papers in peer reviewed journals and have lectured nationally and internationally and continue to do so.
Due to the high demand on my services I am now concentrating my clinical work at The London HAND Clinic which is a private clinic dedicated to the treatment of adult patients with conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. The London HAND clinic is based at the London Bridge Hospital. However, I retain an Emeritus Consultant post at Guy’s and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and continue with teaching and examinations.
I am a member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS), British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) and Orthopaedic Trauma Society (OTS). I am also a member of The Academy of Experts and provide medico legal opinions in personal injury cases and in matters of medical negligence in my specialist area of conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder.
