Consultant Urological Surgeon, Barts NHS Trust

Professor Frank Chinegwundoh is a Consultant Urological Surgeon.  He was appointed as a Consultant to Barts and The London NHS Trust and Newham University Hospital NHS Trust in 1996.  (now amalgamated in 2012 as Barts Health NHS Trust)  He is a recognised Teacher of The University of London and in that capacity examines theses for doctoral degrees in urology.  At Newham he was Clinical Director for Surgery and Anaesthesia until October 2012. 

In 2008 he received a national Clinical Excellence Award.  In 2013 he was recognised with a MBE for services to the NHS.  In 2014 awarded Honorary Professor City University, London, School of Health Sciences.

He is a recognised expert in the field of prostate cancer and is invited to speak at international meetings.  He published the first paper in the UK to show that black men in the UK have a three- fold excess risk of developing prostate cancer compared to white men.  He has numerous publications and book chapters.   He is an honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer, University of London.

He has over 16 years of medical legal experience.  He is on the UK register of Expert Witnesses.  His work encompasses clinical negligence, personal injury, criminal work and work for regulatory authorties.

He sits on the Department of Health Prostate Cancer Advisory Group; previously also the Cancer Reform Strategy group, the National Cancer Equalities group and a working party on cancer survivorship.  He also sits on the Bowel Cancer Screening Advisory Group.  He was the spokesman for the Prostate Cancer Charter for Action.  Since 1998 he has chaired the Charity Cancer Black Care. 

He is a Trustee of the prostate cancer support federation (Tackle).  Previously a trustee of Prostate Action.
